The cucumber has ist origin in India and was domesticated more than 3,000 years ago. Already the Romans ate cucumbers in Europe and today they are grown all across the continent.

Cucumbers that grow larger tend to have lower acidity and the more mature a cucumber becomes, the more bitter the seeds become.
